I've worked with and learned from some of the best in the business--Dr. David Roisum, OSU's Web Handling Research Center, Duane Smith, Clarence Klassen, Reinhold Schable, and Dr. Steve Meyer, to name a few. I'm a Member of ASME and ASHRAE, and obtained my PE license in New York and California. I'm trained as a mechanical engineer, but have worked extensively with control systems, PLC's, and motor drives. I am very much a hands-on equipment guy. I enjoy taking my tools (precision levels, laser alignment system, pi tapes, multimeter, tachometer, and laptop), looking at the web, rollers, drives, and control system, then figuring out why a web isn't behaving as necessary to make product in specification. Why is it tearing, wrinkling, not steering correctly, horning, or telescoping? Is it a machine problem, web problem, or process problem? As Yogi Berra said, "You can see a lot by observing".
