Charles Crosby Email & Phone Number | After obtaining my undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Central Florida, I was hired by the Orlando Police Department in August of 2004. I've served the agency and the local law enforcement community in various instructional roles. The intricacies of communication and leadership have always piqued my interest. I am blessed to indulge that interest by being a commander, trainer, and negotiator for the Crisis Negotiation Team. I was selected to the Team in 2008, and I took over training responsibilities 18 months later. In this capacity, I have participated in multiple domestic and international negotiations training courses, including the FDLE’s Hostage Negotiation , FBI-sponsored Basic Negotiations, IPTM’s Crisis Negotiation Level 2, the FBI’s National Crisis Negotiation Course (June 2018), Police Scotland's Counterterrorism Negotiation, and Police Scotland’s Negotiator Coordinator course. After responding as a negotiator to the Pulse Terror Attack, I developed a case study to critique the response and offer suggestions for best practices for future incidents. I am fortunate to have traveled domestically and internationally to present that case study. Complementing the communication expertise, I have developed expertise in leadership and crisis communication. I am a certified Crisis Intervention officer, a Critical Incident Stress Management Team Leader, and the lead instructor and curriculum developer for Mental Health training at OPD. I served as the supervisor for the Special Victims Unit, working together with victim advocates and partners in the victim services field. Regarding leadership, I hold a certificate in Public Safety Leadership Development (November 2014), and I have progressed to the rank of lieutenant while being actively engaged in these areas. Interaction with fellow negotiators, dynamic presenters, community leaders, and advocates from the mental health and victim services communities has given me a unique outlook on the characteristics of effective communication, conflict resolution, and leadership. In March 2020, I compiled those experiences and combined them with my passion for training by creating Communication Cynergy, LLC.
