Catrina Luz Aniere Email & Phone Number | In 1996 I walked away from the security of my job to follow a dream to co-create a youth environmental organisation inspired by young people who want to change their world. Alongside a group of kids we cofounded Kids Helping Kids - the first youth led environmental conference of its kind in the world. Since then as CEO and cofounder of Millennium Kids Inc I have mentored tens of thousands of young people around the world , who have undertaken training using the 'skills for life’ framework, identifying challenges in their communities, developing practical solutions, making good things happen. Building resilient young people as innovators, problem solvers, critical thinkers, project leaders, delivering practical solutions to big problems is our goal. With new economic, environmental and social challenges we had to switch our thinking - creating a new way of working with young people through eco entrepreneurship allowing their ideas to flourish beyond the ebb and flow of corporate relationships, government grants and small scale fundraising. In 2015 we launched a social enterprise model that takes children's eco enterprise ideas and makes them fly – that says “follow me – let’s change the world.” One Thousand Actions for the Planet , lets kids pitch their ideas for change, learn ‘skills for life’ through training and mentoring and get match funding support for their projects. Aligned with the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals Millennium Kids aims to support One Thousand Actions for the Planet projects to 2030. Millennium Kids currently supports a range of projects across Western Australia,South Africa and Indonesia.
