I gained employment on a medical/surgical unit at University Hospital directly after graduation from high school and worked this job while I attended college. I later completed the LPN program at Augusta Technical College, passed my NCLEX-PN exam, and spent the next 7 years working for a local allergy and asthma specialist. I then remained full-time employed while attending night school at Georgia Military College, where I earned my Associates Degree in Applied Science: pre-nursing and accepted a position in the BSN College of Nursing program at Augusta University. During my time as a student in the program, I ended my full-time employment working as an LPN, and took a lower position as a nurse intern at Augusta University Health. I chose this path because I wanted experience in the field of oncology. I experienced working with adult oncology patients in the hospital setting, as well as extensive adult intermediate and critical cardiac care through my practicum during my senior year. Most recently, I now have 3+ years' experience on an inpatient Intermediate Care Bone Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy unit as a Registered Nurse.
