  Carolyn Lau is a My love for science (and the Government's push for biotech) led me to spend most of my education learning about the biological processes that take place within our bodies, like what is mRNA and how it can potentially used as a decoy for protecting the bodies against viruses - more than a decade later, this actual technology has become the world's answer to protection against Covid-19! While I love the sciences, it wasn't enough to confine me within the laboratories. Immediately after graduation, I entered the MICE industry, researching and producing conferences. While mulling over my next career move, I stumbled upon a job ad from Allen & Gledhill and unexpectedly spent 12 years doing marketing and comms for one of the largest and most illustrious law firm in Singapore and South-east Asia. Working alongside top lawyers, each of them experts in their respective fields of law practice, I have developed and honed my skills especially in the areas of corporate comms, project management, event management, time management, interpersonal relations - skillsets which would serve me well when dealing with people across all ranks. Perhaps it's mid-life crisis or the effects of Covid-19, or just shifts in life priorities, I've decided to leave my comfort place to see and explore the world out there. So much talk about FinTech, crypto, blockchain, asset tokenisation, digitisation, Web 3.0, metaverse etc.. Glad to have joined Hydra X and and be involved in building the future of capital markets. My time spent at the Hydra X has opened up my eyes to new ways of working and collaborating. I learnt, unlearnt and re-learnt new things of being in the corporate world. I've been exposed to new ways of working and collaboration, and humbled myself knowing that there's so much out there that I don't know about! Bringing this curiosity of mine and the strive to better myself, I hope to value-add and contribute to my new workplace - Rajah & Tann Asia, one of the most innovative law firms in the region.
