I am a PhD Researcher at Tilburg Law School with affiliation to the Tilburg Law and Economics Center (TILEC) and Tilburg Institute for Law, Technology, and Society (TILT). I studied law at Ankara University with rich academic and extracurricular activities and obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree in 2012. I completed my one-year legal internship at the Ankara Bar Association in 2013 and become a registered lawyer in Turkey. In 2015, I studied law at Durham University, UK - under a scholarship awarded from the Turkish Ministry of Education and I obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree (with Merit) in International Trade and Commercial Law. Since October 2017, I have been working as a PhD researcher in competition law at Tilburg University. My PhD research examines the data-related challenges in the emerging Digital Agriculture sector from the perspective of competition law and policy. This inquiry inherently touches upon the interplay between traditional competition law enforcement, data protection rules, voluntary rule-making, and the possibility of a sectoral regulatory intervention. In my project, I analyze how existing market failures (deriving from ambiguities on who has which rights on agricultural data) can be addressed more effectively for the sake of sustainable and cost-efficient agricultural production for a growing population. Beyond the legal side of the story, I am also very enthusiastic to learn more about all aspects of the data revolution in the agriculture sector.
