  Camille Lancelin is a Neurological diseases are very diverse in their presentation, some with cognitive symptoms exclusively, others with motor symptoms only, and many with a particular combination of both. Despite this variety, these diseases share commonalities, for example in their risk factors or in their pathophysiology. Understanding their similarities and their specificities could inspire new therapeutic strategies for improving patients quality of life. My postdoc project aims at investigating spinal and brainstem motor micro-circuits in models of neurodegenerative diseases showing a progressive loss of spinal motor neurons (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Down syndrome, Huntington’s disease, and Parkinson’s disease). To this end, we are using immunohistochemistry, confocal microscopy and image analysis techniques. We are committed to reporting methods and results transparently to increase reproducibility. Because preventing health problems from arising in the first place is as important as finding a cure to diseases, I have become increasingly interested in health policy making. I am eager to learn how, as a scientist, I can contribute to science policy and advocacy.
