My interests include creative writing; teaching and facilitation; stand-up and story-style comedy; true crime mysteries; music/movie appreciation; live concert attendance; frequent Facebook and social media use; blogging; plus continuing study of pop culture issues. I am a stepfamily member (father & grandfather), a long-time work professional not afraid to take chances and make decisions aimed at constructive change, cultural transformation, and success. I have had hard trials and challenges, & a few triumphs, in socially difficult and personal disaster-relief situations -- for example I'm a Hurricane Katrina survivor; basically homeless, I volunteered for relief and recovery services after the storm. In business and leadership, I see the import of relationship-building but also 'shock doctrine' -- and how/when to apply them. These are insights cultivated over 43 years of leadership positions and responsibilities in the Catholic Church, university work, and volunteer work for national non-profit organizations and boards of directors. I have written or co-written, and edited, 14 non-fiction books, all published, most of them for adults but several for pre-teens and teenagers. I have also published 300+ articles, short stories, essays, commentaries, and critical reviews. Currently I am working on a new volume of short fiction pieces called "Untethered: Four Novellas and Random Stories." Even if I do say myself, it's actually pretty good work. 'Strengths-Finders' -- Focus, Analysis, Command, Future-Orientation, and Adaptive Myers-Briggs Profile: INTJ Biggest Professional Secret: My older works of fiction are 'out there' via a pseudonym (pen name). I hope to carry that secret name with me to the grave. Biggest Secret Wish: That I could wake up tomorrow morning to enjoy a broad Western sunrise at our condo in Scottsdale AZ. Favorite Current Role in the World: Grandfather to some excellent little people.
