I am passionate about social ventures to provide aid to students of lower socioeconomic statuses to achieve the "prestigious" careers often only available to those who go to target schools as well as come from privileged backgrounds such as management consulting, corporate strategy, product management, investment banking, venture capital, private equity, hedge funds, etc. There is an untapped resource among students like myself who don't necessarily follow the traditional model of student success, but should have the equal opportunity to recruit for the career of their dreams regardless of a "lower tier" university, lower GPA, or the lack of internships or work experiences due to having to work a minimum wage job to make ends meet or personal environments/culture that don’t promote “being as competitive” as one can be in recruiting. To all my fellow CSUN, non-target students, and those who don't have the privilege of relying on their parent's money to get them their free housing, car, and resources while attending school: - You too can break into Management Consulting even if the Big 4 only expects us go for Tax, Audit, Risk, or Vendor SaaS implementations or even if the MBB/T2 firms won't step foot on our campus. - You too can break into High Finance (Investment Banking, Private Equity, Venture Capital, Hedge Funds) even if we are only targeted for back-office or middle-office roles in Salt Lake City. - You too can break into High Tech (FAANG, Big Tech, Unicorn) as a Software Engineer or Product Manager even if we don't have that many alumni in the field - While it is not common for us to see alumni or even have the campus recruiting for the above roles, we too can achieve the same prestigious careers as any other student from those target schools with enough preparation, attitude, and networking. It is up to us to break in and make this a norm and inspiration for the next CSUN, non-target student, or people who don't come from rich families who also want to break in. - Just because our counterparts who come from money have better resources than us, which leads to them being able to have more opportunities and take more risks, does not mean that we can't do it too.
