My professional work experience started with a Co-Op at ZF Transmissions while studying Industrial Engineering at Clemson University. That experience lasted a year and gave me insight into not only the automotive industry but also all the different services and moving parts required to produce anything. This, coupled with a desire to spend more time outdoors, sparked my interest in the Denver Tech Industry and I came to the conclusion that this was something I wanted to further pursue. Therefore I decided it was in my best interest to move fields and took what I had learned to a small Denver based tech distributor called Pax8. I was hired as a Sales Operations Analyst due to my technical background. This role, while involving tedious data manipulation and analytics, required strong interpersonal skills more than anything. I spent my days running back and forth on the sales floor building pricing models, processing refunds, taking care of any and every request that came my way. I managed multiple processes including Deal Desk and Partner Rename Resigns. I was content in this role until one day the Rename Resign form broke. I took my laptop to the dev-pit, submitted a request, and was given an introduction to their processes as I helped them troubleshoot the bug. I found their processes fascinating and eventually decided pursued a role in QA. I quickly studied for and took my ISTQB Foundation Level Certification, interviewed, was offered a job in QA, and am happily in this role today. My QA experience started with data, email, and form checking. I worked heavily in Salesforce, Marketo, and Outreach. Eventually as I learned more I was exposed to API testing, UI/UX, web service design, microservices, automation, and more. Currently I am a manual/automation test engineer working to improve our support processes. Overall I love my job, and I love where I live. My diverse work background has helped me become a better engineer and I wouldn't change a thing about the way I got to where I am today.
