My interests lie in small animal practice with an emphasis in advanced surgery and dental procedures. I have over 2000 hours of clinical experience with small companion animals as a veterinary professional, both before my time in veterinary and as a veterinary student. My duties have included receiving patients, professional client communications using the WISECOACH model, taking thorough clinical history, administering treatments, running in-house lab work and diagnostics, anesthestic preparation and monitoring, intubation and induction, sterile preparation, intra-operative surgical assistance, discharging patients and medications, and drug counseling. I currently hold an Advanced Life Support CPR certification from RECOVER for veterinary patients. Outside on the field, I have participated in various animal surveys including trapping (mammal and fish), gill netting, electrofishing (boat and backpack), trawling, river and beach seining, bird census counts, radio telemetry, and mark and recapture. I have 5 years of experience as an intern at wildlife rehabilitation clinics that focus on veterinary science and medicine for birds (song, waterfowl, and sea) and mammals. Growing up in Southern California, my primary interests lie in pursuing a career working with both companion animals and wildlife in the greater scope of my community's One Health programs: the conservation of local coastal habitats, preservation of ecosystem health, and contribution to the public health and education of my clients, patients, their loved ones, and our neighbors.
