At Host Hotels & Resorts I have held various roles including Senior Financial Officer, Treasurer, and Corporate Controller. Effective January 1, 2021, I accepted a role as a Senior Advisor to the company working with the current CFO in conjunction with my retirement from Host. Over my 25-year career with the company, I have participated in numerous acquisitions/dispositions and financing transactions as the company has grown from 23 domestic hotels to an S&P 500 corporation with a market value of over 18 billion. During 2020, I worked to amend the company’s 2.5 billion revolving credit facility and complete a 750 million green-bond issuance during the pandemic induced economic crisis. I reported to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors where I was the primary contact with responsibility for the external and internal audit functions and reporting on key enterprise risks. I have served as an senior officer of Host for almost 13 years and have in-depth knowledge of the hospitality industry and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and have extensive experience in working with Securities & Exchange Commission filings. Early in 2020, I completed a 18-month collaborative project to move multiple systems to a cloud-based environment, implement new general ledger, treasury, and accounts payable platforms, and most importantly improved business workflow and controls by more fully integrating IT systems into the inter- and intra-departmental processes to drive efficiency, productivity and reduce risk. I believe I bring a strong work ethic and a unique perspective that companies and their boards may find useful as they grow and expand in an increasingly global marketplace. I’ve always been financially focused, but over the last few years my passion for how financial decisions are connected to larger, global sustainability issues encouraged me to join the Board of the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay. Effective in 2019, I became the chair of the Finance Committee and Treasurer for the Alliance. My association with the Alliance has provided me an avenue to use skills honed by my master’s degree in Natural Resources & Global Sustainability from Virginia Tech. I hope to continue to provide contribute leadership as well as financial and governance skills to new organizations, especially those whose mission is related to larger global issues such as sustainable energy and access to clean water.
