Beyond new concepts I am passionate about the commercialization process – where we get cool tech to become something that routinely is used to impact our business. My focus is downhole techniques based on advanced sonic or seismic measurements with application for traditional O&G and the emerging new energy industries. SELECTED HIGHLIGHTS > At Schlumberger I created new innovations for borehole sonic that have evolved into current commercial products. These include everything from seismic-like imaging away from the well to permeability and fracture conductivity using Stoneley waves to anisotropy analysis and Geomechanics. > At BP I led an effort to achieve value using large-scale 3D VSP surveys. Interesting tech talks came early, but achieving true commercial success took 14 years, with challenges around getting the right downhole tools in place and the right work flows and imaging techniques in place for evaluation. Service companies stepped up to the plate and built the much longer downhole arrays necessary to get the image quality required and BP’s seismic imaging expertise was key for the 3D imaging tools that delivered the final products that have been used to drill new wells and sidetracks into untapped reservoirs in deep water GoM. > With Halliburton I went back to borehole acoustics and led R&D efforts to take advantage of new advanced borehole sonic technology. These efforts included improvements in P and S-wave determination, and advanced applications such as reflection sonic imaging, full-frequency fracture evaluation using Stoneley waves, and anisotropy inversion and Geomechanical solutions. I am interested in full-time or consulting opportunities, in particular around achieving value from new technology. In addition I have developed my own company products around reflection sonic imaging, fracture evaluation and anisotropy/Geomechanics. I am happy to demo my products and also would welcome a comparison with my new reflection sonic imaging code and work flow with any major vendor product.
