As a global thought leader in the field, he has received several international awards and is an invited expert of several international consensus panels. As of 2024, he has performed over 1,800 major HPB/transplant surgeries after completing training and becoming a board-certified specialist surgeon. He is a leader and one of the most experienced surgeons in Southeast Asia for major laparoscopic HPB surgeries having performed over 800 lap/robotic procedures as the lead surgeon and mentored colleagues in many more cases. He is widely recognized as an expert and is frequently invited to proctor subspecialty surgical colleagues and perform live demonstrations locally and regionally. He is also experienced in highly complex multi-organ resections requiring major vascular reconstructions for borderline-resectable cancers and often performs surgeries successfully for cases which are considered inoperable by many surgeons. 1.
