  Brian Baker is a I work in three main areas of research and publication: on representations of masculinity in fiction, film and popular culture; on science fiction; and in critical/creative writing. My work in masculinities is developing towards an interdisciplinary project on transcultural masculinities with colleagues in Latin American studies, which would be a major intervention in the field of masculinity studies. My research into science fiction and in particular the 1960s will lead to the completion of a further monograph in 2015. My critical/ creative work has been developed more strongly over the past three years and I am now also pursuing directly creative work, initially in a collaborative online publication and research project .I am also committed to student and wider engagement with my research materials and fields of specialism, to which end I have produced two books and maintain a blog which has an international readership.
