Brent Hannam is a I am a professional Rope Access & Rescue Technician (IRATA Level 3 #28646) working offshore in the North Atlantic, Newfoundland on the engineering marvel that is, the Hibernia Platform. My current position is as the Rope Access & Rescue Lead, overseeing Abseil operations for work from ropes and the platform Rescue team for incidents at height and in Confined Spaces along with training rescue personnel onboard the Hibernia Platform. My experience in the Rope Access and Rescue field covers all major industries. I see Rope Access and Rescue as my trade, its a life long commitment to an unofficial apprenticeship in the fine art of working in difficult situations. As such, I strive for continual improvement in my personal knowledge of the trade, which helps me and the team I work within to provide a safe method of work & rescue at heights for our clients and those on my team. I have a varied background in a number of different organisations including within the Fire Service, Military and Search & Rescue. I bring this experience to my current role, supervising the Rope Access and Rescue teams on the Hibernia. As part of further, self-development, I have become a Trainee Instructor under both the IRATA Rope Access system and the ITRA system.
