Fernung is a former president of the board of the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders' and Owner's Association and is currently serving as treasurer of that not for profit organization. He is also a current board member of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company. In addition, Fernung is also the Chairman of the board of Ocala Thoroughbred Racing Association and a member of the Gulfstream Park After Racing Program (Gptarp) board. Both entities are not for profit organizations who possess Thoroughbred Racing Permits and whose goals are to benefit the Florida Thoroughbred industry. Fernung and his wife, Crystal, own and operate Journeyman Bloodstock Services in Ocala, Florida. Journeyman buys and sells thoroughbred breeding and racing prospects as well as operating Journeyman Stud, one of Florida's leading stud farms. Fernung is available to represent clients in purchasing and managing breeding and racing stock.
