I am currently a Research Associate at Wilfrid Laurier University, and Masters of Science (MSc) candidate in Geography, studying the complex and dynamic hydrological systems of Canadian Arctic watersheds. I hold a BA in Geography from Laurier as well. I have a background in Earth sciences and physical geography, with strong backgrounds in Geographical Information systems (GIS), snow and stream hydrology, climate change, and fluvial geomorphology. When not studying I enjoy exploring the outdoors and being out on the water. My current research interests are centered around Arctic tundra snow hydrology. Specifically I study the short spring snowmelt period to better understand the dynamics of the rapid transition from snow-covered to snow free hydrological regimes. This research project is interesting because it applies knowledge from multiple different fields (GIS, remote sensing, modelling, snow hydrology, fluvial hydrology), and incorporates my love for the outdoors and conducting scientific research in a field setting. The results of my research will improve the understanding of the spring snowmelt period in these remote nival locations and help to improve our ability to model these changing systems under a warming climate scenario.
