McAlvin’s works have been performed by members of the Cleveland Orchestra, members of the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra, and world ragtime-piano champion William McNally. McAlvin has been featured as soloist at the United Nations, several National Flute Association conventions, and in recitals across the US, Canada, France, and Portugal. She was recently the guest artist at the 2014 International Electro-Acoustic Music Festival, where she worked with composer John Eaton to realize his 1981 work, A Greek Vision, and gave a lecture recital at the Hands-On Flute Research conference at the University of Aveiro in 2017. Bonnie McAlvin has been described as 'a truly original voice--the most original of her generation' by renowned flutist-composer Robert Dick. Flutist Jerrold Pritcher's compliment is on point: she "makes multiphonics sound appealing, expressive, and musical." McAlvin's 2014 release of "Parallel Transformations", a solo flute work which uses multiphonics in an entirely tonal contex, garnered international attention, and she is listed on the list of Famous Flutists of "All About Flute" for her mastery of this difficult technique. Bonnie has performed with several orchestras in the NYC area, including the Ureuk Symphony, Chamber Orchestra of the Hamptons, Cape Cod Symphony, Garden State Philharmonic, and the Binghamton Philharmonic. In addition, she is the resident flutist at Reform Temple of Forest Hills in Queens.
