Skilled in IP law and policy, I lead IP cooperation in the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Area (AANZFTA) and collaboration under the Patent Cooperation Treaty. During the Australia-European Union Free Trade Agreement negotiations, my advice shaped the development of a possible new IP right for geographical indications in Australia. I represent Australia in international fora, notably at the RCEP Committee on Business Environment, AANZFTA IP Committee, Meeting of IP Technical Assistance Providers in ASEAN, and WIPO’s Patent Cooperation Treaty Working Group. To advance trilateral cooperation and knowledge sharing I facilitated Vancouver Group Heads of Office meetings. I established Australia’s first bilateral patent interchange with Canada and advanced dialogue on artificial intelligence policy with other IP offices including the US, UK and Korea. On exchange with China’s National IP Administration, I was Australia’s keynote speaker at a trade mark conference.
