  Bill Townsend is a I have worked at five different higher education institutions, including two law schools, and in multiple roles at universities during my career. I currently serve as Vice President and General Counsel and Special Assistant to the President at my undergraduate alma mater, Mississippi College. I have been blessed to serve alongside some great leaders at schools where I have worked and had opportunities to lead great teams. Most of my experiences have been in administrative roles but I have also taught in traditional and online formats. I regularly teach a class entitled, The Law of Higher Education. The course is a graduate-level overview of the many legal and policy issues related to colleges and universities – from Admissions to Zoology labs! I enjoy speaking and consulting with university leaders and teaching about fundraising, faith and learning, legal affairs, trustees and governance, student affairs, Clery Act, FERPA, and Title IX issues. I have been married to my wife Dr. Cindy Townsend for 32 years. She is a great leader, wife, mother, and minister to students and women. She has served on church staffs, denominational staffs, led a para-church ministry, and was the founder of the Global Leadership Institute at Jackson Preparatory School, one of the South’s finest independent preparatory schools. We have two awesome children, both graduates of Baylor. Taylor is married to Seth, and they serve a Baptist church outside St. Louis. William is now in Medical School at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. We enjoy outdoor activities, mountains, beaches, athletic events, travel, speaking, mission activities, and entertaining friends.
