In December 2015 I was diagnosed with Stage IV Cervical Cancer which of course was a massive shock. It had spread to both lungs, my liver, multiple bones (including spine, femur and pelvis,) and lymph nodes from neck to groin. Being on completely the wrong side of the fence and undergoing chemotherapy treatment myself has meant the last 3 years have been gruelling to say the least! However I have beaten all the odds and am now in remission! Hoorah! I had to let my NMC registration lapse, so I’m returning to the workforce as an HCA temporarily. I am applying to start the Return to Nursing course at Buckinghamshire University in September 2019. All being well I will be registered again by early 2020. I’m not planning on returning to Oncology though. So the future that I never thought I’d have is looking bright!
