While I was in the Navy I discovered how important it is to be in touch with nature and how therapeutic it can be. I decided from that moment on I wanted to pursue a career in outdoor recreation. Since graduating with my undergrad in Outdoor Recreation Leadership, with a minor in experiential and group facilitation, I found that my education journey wasn't quite complete. I enrolled at University Colorado Boulder, for the graduate program in Outdoor Recreation Economy. I want to learn as much as I can with the environmental impact with recreation, as well as how to make a business sustainable. During my time in the Navy, I was a multimedia specialist, with an emphasis on public affairs, journalism, marketing, social media management, and graphic design. I spent five years active duty in the Navy, stationed on the USS Nimitz and deployed to the Persian Gulf. This was a great experience because it got my feet wet in public affairs and pushed me towards outdoor recreation and wanting to create a wonderful experience for others.
