Bethany Carpenter Email & Phone Number | I always knew I would be a scientist - I love biology and learning how life works - it is truly fascinating to me from my very first biology class in high school. I've also always been extremely aware of smells. My whole life, I would notice the smells of things first and relate those scents to people in my life, places in my life, etc. to the point that I would know immediately if someone had changed from their normal shampoo or laundry detergent. But I had NO IDEA I could make a living by smelling things. If I'd known this starting out in college - I would have run so fast toward that sensory science degree! Fast forward to my first "real" job - in a Fragrance Compounding Lab in 2009. I fell in love. I've been in the Flavors and Fragrances industry ever since then - bringing me to my current role as a Research Specialist at Procter & Gamble in their Flavors & Fragrances R&D group. I love the combination of art and creativity mixed with biology and chemistry. Then, I get to see the consumer products that P&G creates to make people's lives a better experience because of the scents we create. My second love is technology and working at P&G allows me to build my skill set and learn new ways of implementing technologies in my everyday work, implementing and using robotics in a lab setting, and software development to bring a digital edge to this industry.
