Benjamin Parks Email & Phone Number | For the majority of my work life my day job was as a Corporate, Non-Profit, Forensic Accountant and Auditor. I had offices in Los Angeles & Detroit. I am semi retired in that field but I still take on the odd assignment and will accept selected grant writing jobs, a field where I have had considerable success because, for one reason, I've worked on grant evaluation panels and know what is required for a successful submission.. Since the mid 70's I have been a documentary film and video maker and writer, first in Los Angeles and then in Michigan, where I currently reside. As I indicated, I take on the odd Accounting assignment and keep my hand in the documentary world. My last project was for Nat/Geo in December, 2012 in Pasadena, California. Currently in the works are several documentaries; One involving the Juvenile Justice System and another involving the Gospel music scene in Detroit, home of the Gospel Music Awards, as well as an investigative piece about the defoliation of the black areas of Detroit during the 70's, which was concurrent with a similar effort in Viet Nam. We also have motion picture projects in the development stage. Most gratifying activity is when I'm invited to lecture 3rd year medical students on the nature of the financial firestorm that's right around the corner for them. The transition for scuffling starving student to the cusp of being doctors can be overwhelming, as the world of credit flocks to their door in an effort to reserve for themselves a portion of their future earnings. Learning how to say "no" is nigh unto priceless information for those who heed my words. I plan to work in various capacities for the next four years.
