Ben Mirin Email & Phone Number | As a researcher at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, I study songbirds and the songbird trade in Southeast Asia. Before Cornell I spent five years exploring the world, recording animal sounds for research and sampling their voices to make music that inspired conservation. This idea came from my lifelong passions for music and nature, and I'm delighted it has brought me this far, with projects including an original television series for National Geographic, independent films, a computer game, and hours of original music. I’ve pursued my Ph.D. to apply these passions toward conservation and scientific research, and when I finish my degree (summer 2024) I will continue working to make science more inclusive for the next generation. I love what I do, and my broader goal is to help everyone feel welcomed, connected and motivated to protect the home we all share.
