Ben Mangum is a I am currently a Senior Manager at ams-OSRAM where I lead the Engineering Team at the Portland Oregon site. I oversee all nanomaterials engineering and applications development at our site. As part of a global corporation, I work closely with other R&D teams in Germany, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Product development teams in Austria, and Malaysia, as well as Manufacturing teams in Portland, Malaysia, and China to develop Quantum Dot nanomaterials for use in LED lighting applications. I am a Ph.D. physicist with a background in single particle microscopy and spectroscopy. I am an expert in nanomaterials, with a focus on quantum dots. I have a broad scientific background having worked in various fields including: biophysics, plasmonics, hyperspectral imaging, single photon statistics, color science, LED devices, etc. I have both academic as well as industry experience and have played a key role in leading the technical team in a start-up company through the acquisition by a multi-billion-dollar multinational corporation. I have continued to lead the team as we have transitioned from Research to Development to new-product launches.
