He was responsible for managing the Business unit for Mynet’s social networking platform, Eksenim. He held this position until late 2008. After quitting his full time job at Mynet to pursue his PhD., he continued to work as a Strategy Consultant for Mynet. In 2010, Baran co-founded Grupanya, which became the most successful group buying start-up in Turkey. After doing Series A round with Intel Capital in 2011, Grupanya became the leading local commerce vouchers marketplace in Turkey.
