Austin Martiszus Email & Phone Number | Most people who work in insurance will tell you stories about how they've "fallen" into their current position in the industry. However, I knew that I would be going into insurance from the start. I come from a family full of brokers, agents, underwriters, and claims directors. I began my career as a claims intern at Assured Partners my freshman year of college. I took a small break in between roles to study abroad in San Sebastian, Spain and learn the Spanish language. When I returned to the United States I resumed my career with Assured Partners as an Account Coordinator. While I am so grateful for my role at Assured and everything that it taught me, I fell in love with the idea of becoming an underwriter after interacting with them on a daily basis. I found that the role of an underwriter would allow me to combine a few of my greatest strengths into a single career - detail orientation, an analytical approach to problem solving, and the ability to use both my education in psychology and my experience on the agency side to help pinpoint the needs of my agency/broker partners. Today, I have experience as both a commercial property & casualty underwriter in the admitted market, as well as experience as a management liability underwriter in the excess market. I have to say, I have grown very fond of financial lines underwriting in the excess market. The relationships that I've had the opportunity to develop has proved to be one of the most rewarding aspects of my career. I look forward to continuing to grow my career in underwriting. I am most passionate about building - building relationships, building products, and building solutions. Eventually, I have aspirations of stepping into a product-development based role that allows me to contribute my years of experience and relationships built to help companies continue to build and grow too.
