I then continued my career as a chemist with the total synthesis of cryptophycin. This work resulted in a patent publication. In 2016, I made a career shift from organic synthesis to biotechnology. I joined a team that focus on the development of manufacturing processes ADCs (antibody-drug-conjugate). I trained in protein purification and filtration, and also learned how to chemically modify proteins. In the year 2019, I had the incredible opportunity to work as a downstream process scientist for a period of one year. During this time, my focus was on the purification and separation of biological molecules. My main role involved the development and optimisation of purification methods, with the ultimate goal of obtaining bio molecules of the highest quality and purity possible. In this role, I was responsible for overseeing two collaborators. Since 2020, I have rejoined the ADC process development team .My main responsibilities include development and optimisation of processes; production management ( 2-10 g scale) & laboratory management.
