After graduating college, I moved for a year to Chicago to become an Au Pair. Taking care of two toddlers it was very important to have good time management skills. In 2017 I then enrolled in Chemical Engineering at the University of Iceland. Alongside my studies I worked part-time as a waitress at Bordid restaurant. Multitasking was a pivotal element in my work at Borðið restaurant. Not only did I take orders and serve the food but also, I made coffee and sandwiches, stocked the shelves and tended to the till. In 2018 I started studying Aerospace Engineering with Pilot Studies at the University of Liverpool, where I am a student ambassador as well as co-founder and vice-president of the Disney Society. In the summer of 2019, I worked as a waitress at Fjallkonan restaurant as well as a caregiver at Grund retirement home. Working as a waitress you interact with people from all walks of life. Through experience you learn to deal with customers in courteous, friendly manner, whilst maintaining professional attitude in difficult situations. When working with elderly people you gain a whole new perspective on life. I became more compassionate. Being patient and a good listener is vital especially when taking care of those with Alzheimer or dementia. I am fluent in both English and Icelandic, intermediate Danish and Spanish and can understand and read Norwegian and Swedish. IT skills - along with engineering related IT skills, Matlab and CREO, I am proficient in all Microsoft office applications.
