In 2006, he co-founded YSEC, a social network of close to six thousand social entrepreneurs across Canada, and taught entrepreneurship as an instructor at the Schulich School of Business, and at University of Toronto's Faculty of Applied Engineering. Assaf has received numerous awards and highlights for his work. In 2011, he was named an Ariane de Rothschild Fellow, and in 2014, he was presented with the Possibilities Thinker Award, and in 2016 he was nominated as an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in Ontario. In 2013, CBC named him a Canadian Under 30 Who Is Changing The Country. Assaf's work & writing has been featured in Fast Company, The Globe & Mail, and other publications.
