As a Technical Customer Care professional that is generally the first line you will hear when you reach out to me via Chat, Email, Phone, Zoom/Teams etc. Having spent years doing this, I then automatically enter into a deep active listening mode. I do this to judge the severity and ‘fixability’ of the issue. To get a better picture and to make the customer feel heard, I take a proactive approach and recommend a screenshare for moderate to complex issues. When I need help, I engage with global cross-functional teams from all departments ranging from Development, Marketing, Security, Finance etc. to get the relevant information to the customer. I own the end-to-end process and am the focal point for the customer. Some cases may only be minutes long whilst other complex cases (integration or bugs) can take weeks even months to resolve. Bug reporting and management is also part of my role, I perform tests and attempt to reproduce bugs. I also review bugs reported by the whole team and then categorize them accordingly. I engage with the developers regularly to help add data for a quick turnaround. I act as the bridge between customers and developers, as I understand the lingo from both sides. On a monthly basis I’ve presented the service feature updates to the whole Customer Care Team. This was my idea and I am very proud of taking this initiative and full responsibility for this. I’m also a part of the Onboarding team that helps new colleagues to get going I.e., mentoring them. On occasion when our professional services team was shorthanded, I’ve also on an ad-hoc basis provided product training to new users. Having worked in sales in the first half of my career, I have been front and center dealing with customers for almost two decades. I am confident, saying that my communication skills when dealing with customers are par excellence. I absolutely love new technologies and am generally testing and trying out new things all the time, for example I was the first one in the support team that wanted and got Windows 11 after successfully chasing my internal IT to update my computer! On a personal note, I’ve lived on 3 continents and speak 4 languages and have 2 Master’s degrees. Diversity and multiculturalism are part of my DNA.
