Ashley quit his job in 2011 to manufacture, market and distribute his invention. With over 400,000 travellers using Scrubba wash bags around the world and an annual turnover in the millions, the Scrubba brand is a demonstration of the scalability of innovative products and the importance of solid intellectual property. The Scrubba brand attracted investment in 2015 though Shark Tank Australia, which saw Janine Allis (founder of Boost Juice and Retail Zoo) and Steve Baxter (founder of Pipe Networks) join the Scrubba team as investors. Scrubba by Calibre8 Pty Ltd is Climate Neural certified and a 1% for the Planet member. It is focused on bringing clean, safe drinking water to people in developing countries and has donated over 50,000 to fund water projects in Ethiopia and Bangladesh.
