Ashley Murtagh is a My name is Ashley Murtagh, and I’m a licensed mental health therapist in the states of California & Oregon, as well as a Board Certified Art Therapist. I completed my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Notre Dame de Namur & my Bachelors of Art in Art Education from San Francisco State University. I have been working as a mental health therapist for more than a decade. I am deeply passionate about the art of healing through learning how to take control of our thoughts & shifting our perspective on life. I’ve worked in a number of different therapy settings- substance abuse, juvenile hall, wilderness therapy, community-based therapy, crisis management, residential facilities, and traditional outpatient. It wasn’t until I started working on my own self-growth that I discovered how powerful our thoughts are. I learned how important it is to talk to ourselves with kindness and compassion. Through CBT and mindfulness, I learned how to shift my thoughts and noticed how much it changed my overall mood and how I interacted with others. I went from moody and irritable to calm and at ease. Slowly, I started to see my confidence build as I became nicer to myself. During my free time, you can find me going to the movie theater, reading, listening to way too many podcasts, hiking, camping, yoga, traveling outside of the country, blasting 90’s rap and hip-hop, having a solo dance party in my room, or daydreaming about my next trip to Disneyland.
