I have served in law enforcement for almost two decades, and during that time I successfully negotiated scores of armed encounters and dozens of barricaded and hostage situations. As a young man, I was an Infantryman and a Cavalry Scout trained in Reconnaissance and Guerrilla warfare. I am an ordained minister, and I have served in various capacities in faith organizations over the years. My favorite position was leading a recovery house for men addicted to drugs and alcohol. I served as a mentor and lay counselor as well. I developed my love and calling for the addicted there.
