I’m fascinated by how external factors, in particular technological innovations, change organizations, nations and political systems and I thrive in professional organizations where I can guide and impact the way in which that organization adapts itself to a changing environment. So helping organizations (re)set and implement their strategic course is what I love doing. That is also why I’ve worked the last couple of years at the crossroad of business and IT, both in my current job as well as in my previous ones, since change in organizations is enabled, guided and increasingly directed by IT capabilities. Change and adapting to change is a constant in my personal career as well. From being a trained biologist, I've transformed into a social scientist analysing the impact of social policies. Then turned project manager and national security analyst before being a team manager. After that I became the first national government CSO where I discovered the role of CIO to be more interesting. I believe that making a career is all about making a great and exiting journey; not about getting as fast as possible to it's final destination. I’ve studied Biology and Political Sciences and have worked the last 15+ years in different positions either at or for the Dutch National Government. The public sector appeals to me since it focusses on improving society and making it a better place to live in. As a professional I want to add value in a similar way by contributing and leaving a positive mark on the world we pass on to our children.
