David has almost 20 years of experience in finance and internal audit. He began his career as a Staff Auditor for Ernst and Young, LLP and was a Senior Accountant for IBM. After serving with gallantry as a United States Army Combat Medic in the War on Terrorism in Kuwait, and Iraq, he joined a boutique accounting firm in Coral Gables as a Senior Auditor and Consultant, he was a Senior Regional Corporate Auditor for DHL Express and was a SOX Compliance Supervisor for Baker Hughes. David holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Bogota (Jorge Tadeo Lozano) and an MBA from Nova Southeastern University. He received his CPA certification from the Colombian Chartered Board of Accountants in 1995. David has been the Internal Controls Finance Manager in the Global Finance and Accounting organization since December 2012. He acted as the Strategic Internal Control Leader in the Global Accounting Group. In this role, he worked closely with the company’s accounting and finance leadership to determine our position on internal controls and SOX emerging trends in auditing, accounting and financial reporting matters. In addition, he was responsible for developing risk-based review programs and departmental policies to enhance the company’s internal controls, facilitating reviews to drive process improvements, supporting business units’ compliance with policies and procedures, and communicating review results to upper management through written reports and oral presentations.
