Angela Swales Email & Phone Number | I first became aware of Move it or Lose it! in September 2013 when I purchased one of their exercise DVDs for an older relation whose mobility was declining. I had a follow up email invitation to an Open Day at Birmingham University to learn about training to become a Move it or Lose it! instructor. At the Open Day I was impressed by Julie Robinson (founder of Move it or Lose it!) and her other instructors’ enthusiasm and experience of making a difference to older and less able peoples’ lives. I liked that the exercise programme was evidence-based and that the course was run in collaboration with the Centre for Healthy Ageing Research at University of Birmingham and benefits from their world-leading experts in active ageing (Professor Janet Lord and Dr Carolyn Greig). I did the Chair Based Exercise training in Summer 2014. My organisational skills and experience of delivering training in my previous career (30+ years in the Public Sector latterly as a Project Manager) has helped me set up and run classes. I wear my Move it or Lose it! t-shirt with pride and spread their mission. I do a variety of weekly classes in Cheltenham; Cheltenham Borough Homes (CBH) Wallace House Community Hub, an over 55s housing complex, a one-to-one client and a new community class, which is open to everyone in St Marks area of Cheltenham. I love doing this job. My participants particularly like that the sessions are done to music which gives them a feel good factor. They love the challenge of doing new exercises and are amazed at what they can achieve. My friend Kathy Chesters is also a Move it or Lose It! instructor and she has classes in Cheltenham and Churchdown.
