I was as a Disease Intervention Specialist working in STI and HIV case tracking for five years. I then became the Coordinator of the Community Health Equity, Education, and Tobacco programs for 10 years, and worked in health education, addiction, tobacco control and cessation, and community partnership activities. I am a Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist, specializing in cessation for pregnant women and individuals with critical need to stop using tobacco. In June 2020, I left over 20 years of frontline Public Health practice to teach full-time at the University of Kentucky College of Public Health. I taught classes in Sexual Health, Tobacco and Society, Environmental Health, Public Health Profession and Practice, and Maternal Child Health. In 2022, I moved to the Center for Health Equity Transformation (CHET) in the University of Kentucky College of Medicine where I am a Research Program Manager. I have expert-level skills and experience in public speaking, professional training and continuing education, tobacco treatment, motivational interviewing, performing interviews and focus group facilitation for data collection, grant writing, and project management. I hold a Master of Arts (M.A.) focused in Health Communication from New Mexico State University and a MPH from the University of Kentucky. I also own Point Blue Consulting, an independent contracting company that provides training, group facilitation, and specialized consulting services to the Public Health community. I am a Master Trainer for the Smoking Cessation and Reduction In Pregnancy Treatment program (SCRIPT), which is a tobacco treatment intervention administered by the Society of Public Health Education.
