Andrew Mossin Email & Phone Number | A writer, scholar and editor with more than 30 years of experience, I have a wide range of institutional higher ed experiences, including appointments at Rutgers University, the University of Pennsylvania and Princeton University. In 2012 I joined the faculty of Bard College's immersive summer bridge program for entering first-year students, Language and Thinking, last having taught there in August 2023. I joined the faculty of the Intellectual Heritage Program at Temple University as an Assistant Professor in 2013 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2018. I began my career in New York in the 1980's, first as Program Associate at Poets & Writers, followed by my appointment as Publications and Advertising Director at the Council of Literary Magazines and Presses. Following my move to Philadelphia in 1988, I was admitted to the M.A. Program in Creative Writing at Temple University. I went on to pursue my Ph. D. in English (specializing in contemporary American poetry and poetics) and received my doctorate in 1998. My current responsibilities as an Associate Professor in Temple University's Intellectual Heritage Program include teaching courses in sacred, philosophical, political and literary texts from the ancient to the contemporary. My teaching areas include contemporary poetry and poetics, cultural studies, American literature and freshman writing. My memoir, A Son from the Mountains, detailing my Cold War adoption from Greece and subsequent childhood, was published by Spuyten Duyvil in 2021. In addition, I've published seven books of poetry: Black Trees (Spuyten Duyvil 2023), North & East: Daybooks (Spuyten Duvil 2021); The Fire Cycle (Spuyten Duyvil 2020); Stanzas for the Preparation of Perception (Spuyten Duyvil, 2019); Torture Papers (Spuyten Duyvil, 2018); Exile's Recital (Spuyten Duyvil, 2016); The Veil (Singing Horse Press, 2008); The Epochal Body (Singing Horse Press, 2004); and a critical book of essays, Male Subjectivity and Poetic Form in "New American" Poetry (Palgrave, 2010). I have recently completed editing an anthology of essays to be published by the University of New Mexico Press in 2024, Thinking with the Poem: Essays on the Poetry and Poetics of Rachel Blau DuPlessis. I am currently researching a book on the visual artist and photographer, William Christenberry, Discrepant Southern Visions: The Art and Times ofWilliam Christenberry.
