This motto has allowed me to effectively manage the stresses of working in a chemical plant and view issues as fun challenges during each step of my career. I am a results driven chemical engineer looking to expand my leadership experience. Although I have spent the entirety of my career at Lyondellbasell, I have had the opportunity to work in a few different roles which broadened my skill set. I began my engineering career in a derivatives unit (Allyl Alcohol and Butanediol). These units ran reliably, so I had ample time to develop optimization skills through data analysis and simulations/modeling. Profitability of these units relies heavily on the selectivity and conversion of the reaction section, so I took interest in the chemistry and reactor operation. This made my transition to research and development seamless as I studied new catalysts and optimized reactor conditions. My engineering experience set me up well to lead pilot plant programs, but rather than strive for steady state operation, the goal was to discover new operating boundaries. Collaborating with plant engineers to implement R&D projects motivated me to transition back to a production engineering role. Currently, I support the compression and cold fractionation area of an Olefins unit. My background in modeling and data analysis has led to successful, profit generating projects, with little to no capital spend. I have recently taken on roles of increasing responsibility, leading small teams in company-wide technical initiatives and planning plant outages. I am looking to build on these leadership experiences while still leveraging my technical skills. My passion for engineering has translated into brewing beer in my free time; just another process to optimize. I also love sports and perform in the Houston Texans Deep Steel Thunder Pep Band (years ago I performed in the University of Wisconsin Drumline). When I am not in Houston, I am most likely backpacking or snowboarding in the mountains.
