  Andrew Hamilton is a During my 20+ years as a physics researcher, data scientist, and educator, I have come to realize that physics is simple. The challenge is seeing the simplicity. I am driven by finding the simplicity in complicated problems and then helping others see that underlying simplicity. As a researcher on the global team that discovered the Higgs Boson, I developed both the technical skills in data analysis and the leadership skills required to guide a technical team to deliver on time. But my true joy came from helping others understand what we had discovered. As a faculty member at the University of Cape Town (UCT), I founded the UCT-ATLAS research collaboration that continues to connect faculty and students at UCT to the ATLAS Experiment at CERN. But my true joy came from guiding my graduate students through their theses. As a Professor at Quest University Canada, engaging with academics from diverse fields, I began consulting with Politikos Research on projects that bring my analytical and computational skills to bear. My joy, my reward, in this work is seeing how the complicated problem presented by the client can be broken down and solved in a series of simple steps. As a City Councillor for Squamish, I search for the simple core of each question that will help my community become more resilient, more connected, and simply put, an even better place to live.
