Prior to his current role, he worked as a coastal modeler/ engineer at Coastal Tech-G.E.C Inc. Prior to that he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Naval Research Laboratory, Oceanography division, Nearshore and Coupled Model Systems branch. At NRL Andrew worked on the development and validation of a new Coastal Surge and Inundation Prediction System. Andrew’s educational background is in atmospheric science and ocean/coastal science and engineering. Andrew completed his doctoral studies in Coastal and Oceanographic Engineering at the University of Florida in December 2011 under the advisement of Dr. Y. Peter Sheng. His graduate studies focused on storm surge and inundation modeling including the development of a new method to generate flood maps and risk assessment products by using an optimal storm database developed specifically for a region. This work was applied to current and future climates. Andrew obtained a BS in Meteorology at Florida Institute of Technology prior to his studies at UF.
