Andrea Walcott Email & Phone Number | Non Clinical Placements: Rouge Valley Health Services, Scarborough, ON As part of the BHSc program at UOIT, I was enrolled in a placement in the health records department at Rouge Valley Health Centre Centenary Site from January - April 2013. Of the projects I conducted during my experience at the hospital I: - created a physical layout of the department detailing the locations of shelving units and workspaces - using the map as a guide, I measured the amount of shelf space being taken up by objects other than patient charts and summarized my findings in graphs and a floor plan map - conducted employee interviews to create standardized workflow processes and created process maps for the manager All of these projects were useful to the health records department because they will help the manager in the planning stage of the document scanning process. From this experience I have gained exposure to a different hospital environment, different Hospital computer systems, and a different method of managing a health records department using LEAN methodology.
