From pretend lesson plans to story time with my stuffed animals, learning and teaching have always been what I love. Today, I still teach, although these days, real people, their differentiated needs, and the classroom context all shape the instructional methods I use to to help each and every one of my students reach their learning potential. I am an experienced and effective educator that has worn multiple hats in a variety of settings which include K-12, higher education, community development, and corporate training. These experiences have taught me that I not only possess a unique ability to apply my teaching skills in a multitude of contexts; they have also taught me that my professional value boils down to the following points: High Achievement: - Completed B.A. and M.T. degrees in five years. - Kent Butler Student Planner Award - Fluvanna County School Board Recognition for Teaching Excellence Self-Motivated and Driven: - Designed and implemented classroom curriculum that went beyond state-mandated objectives and included multicultural perspectives, 21st-Century learning skills, and action research projects. - Seeking to understand how to involve youth in community processes, I returned to graduate school to specialize in community development. - Assisted in the re-design and implementation of a corporate training program.
