She relocated to New Mexico in 2002 where she was cross trained for ignitable liquids analysis and clandestine laboratory response. In 2005 she moved once again, this time to Illinois, continuing to work with controlled substances and ignitable liquids analysis. In June 2008 Ms. Champagne chose to pursue other career options and left her position as a forensic chemist. She worked for a brief period in the Specialty Gas Chromatography section of Bureau Veritas before a company wide restructuring of laboratory services resulted in the loss of several positions, Ms. Champagne's among them. After a short break Ms. Champagne was hired as a contractual employee at NOW Foods in Bloomingdale, IL. The position focused on a method development project utilizing FTIR. The project was successful and Ms. Champagne was offered full time employment. After a year as a Quality Control chemist utilizing HPLC and GC techniques to ensure the identity and purity of incoming raw materials, in process mixes, and finished products Ms. Champagne accepted a position with NOW's Method Development group. For the next four years Ms. Champagne worked on a range of projects focusing primarily on methods for identification. These methods include chromatographic profiling, immunoassay and adulterant screening. In the spring of 2015 Ms. Champagne was invited to apply for a Research Chemist position with the McCrone Associates in Westmont, IL. Seeing the opportunity to fully apply both her forensic and industrial skills she pursued the opportunity. Ms. Champagne accepted a position with the McCrone Associates in June of 2015.
