Amit Dutta Email & Phone Number | The age of renewable energy is upon us, and I consider myself fortunate to be a part of this early wave. I arrived here not by design. but through serendipity; from civil engineering to structural engineering to offshore structures to subsea engineering and offshore installations and then to offshore wind. Although after graduate school I never expected it to turn out this way, by happy accident my entire career has been devoted to working in the offshore industry, first in offshore oil & gas, and now in offshore wind and other offshore renewables. It has been an interesting journey. I love working on inter-disciplinary and innovative projects, as part of and managing teams developing diverse technical components that contribute to the creative final product. In addition, starting in graduate school, I have enjoyed taking courses and participating in discussions across the technical spectrum - looking across and learning from what other disciplines are doing is a lot of fun. I am presently working as part of a great team addressing renewable energy projects including offshore wind within the US outer continental shelf. Prior to offshore wind, I had worked on worldwide offshore oil & gas projects, focusing on design and installation of subsea systems including rigid and flexible risers, flowlines and umbilicals, as well as structural engineering for offshore floating and fixed platforms. I had executed feasibility studies, FEED, detailed design and installation engineering phases of projects ranging from short studies to mega-sized EPCI projects, in quite shallow (40m) to ultra-deep water (+2000m). I continue today to seek to utilize my technical, project management, analytical problem solving, and strategic thinking skills to support the execution of leading-edge offshore projects.
