The project involved the design of a pH-controlled molecular carrier through modification iMVP-mINT protein- protein interaction within the vault complex using techniques including site-directed mutagenesis, transformation, protein expression. Poster Presentation. (Mentor: Dr. Sierin Lim). In order to eliminate detrimental post mortem changes in brain chemistry, the project involved optimization of microwave euthanasia in rats. Also worked on behaviour learning paradigm – Cued Fear Conditioning. Techniques assimilated include PAGE, DNA Extraction & protein estimation. (Mentor: Dr. Farah Lubin). The study investigated the role of SOX7/17 in the specification and maintenance of extra-embryonic endoderm lineages, as well as their function in the regulation of pluripotency. XEN and ES cell derivation from mouse blastocysts. Confocal imaging & immunohistochemistry. Poster presentation. (Mentor: Dr. Kat Hadjantonakis). The project investigated the effect of oxidative stress on host erythrocytes and subsequently the invasion efficiency of the malarial parasite using micropipette aspiration and atomic force microscopy. Additionally, a drug screen using flow cytometry analysis was performed in order to evaluate anti-malarial candidates. Poster Presentation. Manuscript in preparation for PLOS ONE.
