  Amber Datta is a I am a postdoctoral researcher studying governance of coral reefs in the era of climate change, with a particular focus on community-led adaptive management of nearshore fisheries in Hawaiʻi. I completed a PhD in Environment, Agriculture, and Related Studies at JCU and a PhD in Forestry & Conservation Science from the University of Montana through a dual enrollment arrangement. I also hold a M.S. Resource Conservation degree with an option in International Conservation & Development at the University of Montana. I grew up in Hawaii and have a passion for coastal and marine management in the Pacific, which I am pursuing through my research. I am particularly interested in governance of marine resources in Hawaii, Australia, and Pacific Island countries and territories. I have a B.A. in Environmental Analysis, with a focus in biology, and am interested in bringing the natural sciences and social sciences together when undertaking conservation and marine resource management projects. I believe in a people-centered approach to marine resource management and conservation, especially in contexts where there is a high dependency on natural resources for food and livelihoods.
